Project Details
What is BRISWA 2.0 about?
The project aims to address a still widespread social issue: racism in sport.
It does so by raising awareness among teachers, sports coaches, and students about the importance of inclusion.
To this end, a specialized course will be developed to enhance knowledge and skills on this topic and encourage all participants to take an active stand against racism.
The Story
Origins of the Project
BRISWA 2.0 builds upon the previous European project BRISWA (Erasmus+ – Collaborative Partnership in Sport – GA 2016-3060), which addressed racism in sport, particularly in football, promoting equality and solidarity among players, especially young ones. The goal was to redefine and counter racism and discrimination through a deeper and more proactive approach. Thanks to its high-quality outcomes, strong visibility, and tangible impact in the world of sport, BRISWA was recognized by the European Commission as a “good practice”, and was included among the most successful projects in the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform.
Our Goals
Project Purpose
Building on the success and wide recognition of the original BRISWA project, BRISWA 2.0 aims to enhance and expand its results, adopting a systemic approach focused primarily on high school students.
- Despite progress achieved, racism remains a deep and persistent issue across many areas of society, including sport.
- Through civic engagement, awareness, and education, the project seeks to build a fairer, more inclusive, and more cohesive society.
- Moreover, BRISWA 2.0 aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of racism from a systemic perspective, offering prevention and mitigation strategies and establishing a higher education course dedicated to studying and addressing this crucial issue.
- The ultimate goal is to foster meaningful change in the fight against all forms of discrimination.
