About the Briswa project
The BRISWA 2.0 finds its roots within the BRISWA project, which is an EU-funded project (funded by the ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME – SPORT COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP – GA 2016 – 3060) dealing with the problem of racism in football (and in Sports in general), trying to spread the message of equality among races, genders, religions etc. among football players, especially youngsters, and hence ultimately trying to “kick” racism out of all kind of courts, fields, stadiums and so on. Aims of the project was to re-examine racism and discrimination in football, define it in a more concise way and promote a more thorough and active approach against it.
The excellent results achieved within the project in terms of materials developed, visibility, and impact in the world of sports not only earned the Commission a very high rating on the quality of the project, but also ensured that it included the BRISWA project within a restricted category of successful projects (“good practice”) within the European portal (Erasmus+ Project Results Platform, a database where you can find descriptions and results of projects supported by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, as well as its predecessor programmes).

During the project lifetime, the consortium successfully sought to form and build a network with experts, authority, sports’ stakeholder, sports’ federation, foundation and sports’clubs. Workshops and initiatives were planned to spread the message against racism, also using the scientific tools developed as part of the project. The aim was to meet the previously identified needs by expanding the BRISWA network.
Objective achieved thanks to an excellent partnership committed to establishing and activating collaborations with institutions, including football leagues, academic institutions, international organizations, and media, aimed at promoting awareness on the issue of racism in sports and developing strategies to counter it. The project has partnered with numerous national and local media outlets to disseminate its initiatives and raise awareness on the issue of racism in sports. Collaboration with FARE network, Italian football Serie A League, Italian coach association, Bulgarian football federation, Serbian Basketball federation ( just to mention a few) and media coverage during the events in various cities/ nations have helped spread the project’s message to a wider audience.
Following its conclusion, the partnership sought to maintain and expand this network, gave rise to the creation of the new BRISWA 2.0 project and the BRISWA ITALIA APS
