WELCOME TO BRISWA 2.0, A PROJECT FUNDED BY THE
EUROPEAN UNION UNDER THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

The project aims to tackle a still widespread social problem: Racism in sport. This project has set itself the task of sensitizing professors, sports coaches and students to the issue of inclusion. To this end, a course will be developed to trains and improves skills and knowledge about this phenomenon and encourages all participants to take an active stance against racism.

But where does the Briswa 2.0 project come from?

The BRISWA 2.0 finds its roots within the BRISWA project, which is an EU-funded project (funded by the ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME – SPORT COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP – GA 2016 – 3060) dealing with the problem of racism in football (and in Sports in general), trying to spread the message of equality among races, genders, religions etc. among football players, especially youngsters, and hence ultimately trying to “kick” racism out of all kind of courts, fields, stadiums and so on. Aims of the project was to re-examine racism and discrimination in football, define it in a more concise way and promote a more thorough and active approach against it.

The excellent results achieved within the project in terms of materials developed, visibility, and impact in the world of sports not only earned the Commission a very high rating on the quality of the project, but also ensured that it included the BRISWA project within a restricted category of successful projects (“good practice”) within the European portal (Erasmus+ Project Results Platform, a database where you can find descriptions and results of projects supported by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, as well as its predecessor programmes)

BRISWA2.0

BRISWA 2.0 GOAL

Building on the successes of the BRISWA project and its outcomes (scientific research, CLD, training course syllabus, SD model, etc…), BRISWA 2.0 aims to advance and further develop these outcomes using a systemic approach targeting higher education students. Despite efforts, racism is still a major issue in various areas of society today, sport included.
Reports such as the White Paper on Sport and similar European documents highlight the persistence of racism, from the under-representation of ethnic minorities to racist incidents among athletes and institutionalized discrimination within organizations.

BRISWA 2.0 believe in the power of education to bring about change.
Therefore, the project’s efforts will focus on developing specialized courses to address and raise awareness of this important social issue. The BRISWA 2.0 project will empower students to understand and combat the phenomena by developing innovative pedagogical tools and practices. The aim is to promote inclusion and diversity in sport through education and to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to tackle racism . Through informed engagement and civic participation, we aim to create a more equitable society.

The BRISWA 2.0 project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomena from a systemic perspective, offer insight into mitigation strategies, and create a dedicated college course for the study of its. By addressing this pressing issue with innovative curriculum development and policy experimentation, the project aims to make significant progress in the fight against racism.
